Presiding Elder Jimmy Caldwell

South Florida Chapter Coordinator

The South Florida Chapter was started because of a rash of criminal behavior. Some Florida children and youth have been chronic, violent offenders. We found a need to implement  a program , The Next Generation Movement for Peace and Nonviolence, which could prevent our children from going into a life of crime.

The superintendent for Santa Rosa County Schools is Mr. Tim Wyrosdick. In Escambia County, there are 35 Elementary Schools, 9 Middle Schools and 7 High Schools with 40,496 students. In Santa Rose County, there are 15 Elementary Schools, 7 Middle Schools and 6 High/Specialized Schools with 20,468 students.

Prevention Programs

Summer Lunch Program

The South Florida Chapter implemented a lunch program. The children in the area are receiving a nutritious meal, which is one of the building blocks to positive growth. While at the program, children are receiving vital information on how to be peaceful and how to remove themselves from violence (See the pictures right.).

Farm Share Program

The South Florida Chapter got involved with a program called Farm Share. Established in 1991, Farm Share is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to recovering, sorting, packing and distributing nutritious food for people in need. Farm Share administers a combination of USDA commodity programs and produce recovery operations. Farm Share is working to alleviate hunger and malnutrition by recovering and distributing fresh and nutritious food to those who need it most. Farm Share provides food to hundreds of non-profit organizations. Farm Share distributes more than 6 million household food packages – totaling 40 million pounds of food – each year to Florida families in need. More than 15 million pounds of fresh and nutritious fruits and vegetables are trucked each year to participating community groups throughout Florida.

Farm Share Program

The South Florida Chapter had another amazing event with the Farm Share Program. The group had new volunteers. The group was able to feed many family and provide nourishment to them.
